Severn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, with a 2000 census population of 35,076 at the 2000 census; its zipcode is 21144. It is a approximately 13 miles to both Bowie, MD and Baltimore, MD. It has AMTRAK access to Baltimore which is convenient for its daily commuters and is only three (3) miles from the Baltimore-Washington International Airport and 26 miles to Andrews Air Force Base.

There is also easy access to the B&A Bike Trail which extends from Glen Burnie to just north of Annapolis, available for walkers, runners, bicyclists, and equestrians. The paved, ten-feet wide 13.3 mile linear park follows the route of the Old Baltimore and Annapolis Railroad from its northern origin in Glen Burnie, to Annapolis in the south.
SENIOR CITIZENS With an increasing senior population, local Senior Citizen Activity Centers offer a wide variety of educational and entertaining classes, with transportation to and from the centers being provided. Educational opportunities, health screening, recreational activities, and hot nutritious lunch is available at five centers throughout the county. Monthly activity schedule are available for ages 55 and older.
